Despite a 2 day delay, Coach Nadeem Ahmed arrived back on Island on Monday to tain the national team in preparation for their Sub Regional Qualifiers later this year.
Since he left the Island in June, one squad member has dropped out leaving 17 preparing for the tournament. A further three will be dropped to streamline to 14 who will eventually represent the Island in November.
Yesterday coach Nadeem met all of the players as he undertook his first session based on fitness and fielding skills.
During his absence from the island, players committed to a weekly mandatory training session, however from this week training will move to 3 times a week until the final 14 players are selected.
To this end, for this week another session will be held on Thursday evening and a middle session on Sunday morning.
Today Nadeem is so very pleased to be back on Island.
He said “It’s amazing to be back and super excited to get down to training . The team looks fitter and stronger but now we need to ramp it up a few gears .
After last night and the first session since I arrived the standard has been set . We are focused and hope to make the island proud”
Next week there will be a usual Tuesday training session, on Thursday all players will participate in n fitness testing and on Saturday 5th October the final squad selection will be made.
