And they are off – Team St Helena departed St Helena Airport (HLE) this afternoon, headed for Johannesburg where they will have a quick stopover before heading to Botswana tomorrow morning for week building up to 2 T20 crocket tournaments hosted by the ICC and the ACA.
The 17 player team are accompanied by a team manager, a skills coach, a physio and a personal coach and the president of the St Helena Cricket Association.
Having endured six months of intensive training in the build-up to this cricket tour and are definitely looking forward to the three weeks ahead.
Tonight after arriving at OR Tambo, they will transfer to the Protea Hotel, where the real work will start, as they have cricket and equipment to sort and pack before an early morning flight.
Team player Darrell Leo and Manager Derek Richards are already in Johannesburg organising everything prior to the teams arrival. Darrel has been in south Africa for the past 2 weeks awaiting a Visa from the Botswana Immigration whilst Derek has been attending an ICC conference in the Seychelles..
