Yesterday was a rest day for all teams, with everyone allowed a training slot in both the batting nets and the outfield. Team St Helena opted for light exercise and batting, before an early night in preparation for today’s match against Sierra Leone.
In our blog today we have the comments from Coach Nadeem on how the tournament has gone so far..
Coach Nadeem – “After two matches, on desolate turning pitches we have come to learn a lot. Even with our early arrival to get acclimatised the heat has taken a lot of getting used to in match conditions. Batting second after fielding 20 overs in 37 degree heat has played a big role . That being said we been very good in the field and getting through our overs just not creating enough chances. We came into the tournament with a clear plan of focusing on rotating strike and being really good on the 1’s and 2’s which we did really well during training on the island . However , on turning wickets where 6 innings have been played on the same pitch has proven a bit of a challenge. Other teams exposure to turf training has probably given them the upper hand. The team remains focused and we are trusting our processes. With a few tweaks here and there both on and off the field we will be back playing the best cricket we know we are capable of”.
It’s a 9.30 start against Sierra Leone and we do anticipate some changes to the starting 11.
