Team St Helena has almost completed a 24 hour travel from Abuja in Nigeria to Capetown, via Eithiopa, which included an 11 hour stopover, only enhanced by one of the best nights sleep since the team left St Helena 2 weeks ago.
This blog is being done at 37,000 feet (so pictures will be kept to a minimum) and everyone is well rested, looking ahead to our arrival in Capetown around 1pm (Capetown time) this afternoon.
The tournament now seems a long time ago and everyone is looking forward to a few days break before meeting their families again in St Helena next Saturday.
The night prior to departure from Nigeria, Team St Helena participated in the events closing ceremony, before an early start the next morning to start their journey.
Of course St Helena did not achieve what they set out to do, but it’s now a time to refresh, rethink and recharge and look forward on how to progress what they have already achieved.
Our social media platforms over the next few days will feature comments from some of the team on their reflections on the tournament.
For now it’s some downtime coupled with some formal interactions. Sunday will be a rest day, with Captain Cliff cooking up a St Helena Sunday lunch, before Monday morning a visit will be made to a bat manufacturer.
Some members of the team wants to visit an opthalmologist and plans are in hand to have a visit with a ex South Africa cricketer.
