His Excellency Governor Nigel Phillips last Thursday night hosted a reception at Plantation House at which he presented the National Team with their playing kit among other presentations.
His Excellency welcomed the players and their Wives and Girlfriends (WAGs) and said how delighted he was to be able to host the presentation just prior to the team leaving for Nigeria and wished them well.
President of the Association and the team manager Derek Richards started the presentation process by firstly inviting the WAGs to receive a small gift to show his appreciation to them for the support and the patience which they have shown over the past 6 months.
Prior to the presentation of the kits to the players, Derek said how pleased and proud he was of the achievement in the procurement of the kit, where a major sponsor (Fain Sports Apparel) had been brought on board to provide the kit and in doing so had given rock bottom prices and in some cases free sportswear.
Added to this were formal polo shirts printed with the Association Logo and sponsored for the event by Mavin Powercube, formal personalized polos sponsored by coach Nadeem and windcheaters for the players and WAGs sponsored by Island Images.
Players were delighted with the quality and content of the kit, as were others present.
8 baggy caps were also presented to individuals in recognition of their contribution to the spirit of cricket in St Helena.
Concluding the presentation was the award of prizes for the National Teams Fantasy Training League, where players were awarded points on a weekly basis, for their achievements in training.
Rhys Francis and Cliff Richards claimed these awards.
The evening was concluded with cocktails and snacks. The St Helena Cricket Association thanks His Excellency Governor Phillips for his hospitality and allowing them to hold their special occasion at Plantation House.
