St Helena’s Cricket team in Johannesburg

It has been an intriguing first day for Team St Helena in Johannesburg and day two seems to be set the same way.

The Team checked in at Da Arden Guesthouse in Rosebank shortly after arrival at OR Tambo and day 1 started with a light breakfast followed by a trip to exchange currency and local SIM cards before heading off on a planned trip to Black Widow Cricket Club.

This was not without an event as the coach suffered a flat battery which delayed the team for up to an hour.

The visit was well worth the wait however as the team was able to see some of the products on sale and purchase handmade bats and protective equipment before a batting session in their indoor nets.

The second half of the day was a visit to the Wanderers Cricket Ground and a visit to the on-site shop.

Again new cricket shoes and other protective gear were on the shopping list before the team headed back for an early dinner where the most popular option was for a Spur Meal (without the fries)😃, whilst a few of the team opted for a popular noodle bar.

Day one was rounded off with a game of Euchre.

At the time of writing, it’s Day 2 but plans of practicing on a turf wicket have been hit by torrential rain.
