The St Helena Wirebirds UK has made a substantial contribution to our cricket fundraising with activities in the UK.
This past Sunday they held a friendly cricket match, featuring a St Helena 11 against the Knowle Village Cricket Club.
Headed by St Helenians, Shaz and Douglas Stevens, they without hesitation, made plans to help raise funds and it appears turned out a wonderful day, with all sorts of entertainment in addition to the cricket.
The event raised £1607.00, which will be used to support the international team later this year.
Nick Stevens, currently in the UK, rolled back a few years to take part and said that it was a great day out. Most of the St Helena 11 had not played for many years but made it a competitive match against a team which is currently coming to the end of their season.
Thanks are extended to The Wirebirds team for their support and we hope to work with them to make this an annual fundraising event for St Helena Cricket.
