St Helena experienced a rather poor day

Team St Helena experienced a rather poor day with the bat against the Hosts Rwanda as they finished on 77 in a run chase of 131.

Rwanda had won the toss and elected to bat and quickly raced to 41 during the power play overs but a steady fall of wickets, the star bowlers being Andrew Yon 4/30 in four overs, Jordi 2/28 in four…but a great performance by spin bowlers Gareth Johnson, Barry Stroud and Scott Crowie which slowed the run rate.

With 131 to win the game, it was rather a dismal start losing the first wicket after 2 balls with zero runs on the board.

The power play overs yielded just 15 runs leaving a massive task to reach the target which unfortunately the team could not meet ending 77/8

The top scorer for Team St Helena was Aiden Leo with 24.

The team now takes a 2-day break before a game on Monday against Johnathon’s homeland – The Seychelles.
