Senior Squad selected for Regional Qualifiers

St Helena Cricket has been hard at training for the past months, preparing for the T20 WC regional qualifiers in Rwanda in November. With an initial pool of 20 players who have been training hard under the coaching skills of Nadeem Ahmed, a level 3 professional cricket coach who is working with St Helena Cricket board.

 

The selectors announcement came just after four on Saturday 15th October and Derek Richards, Vice President and Team Manager, welcomed the players and their families to a private event at Richards Travel Lodge. Coach Nadeem inspired and congratulated the squad on their recent training achievements and complimented them on their commitment and discipline.

 

It was quite an exciting moment for St Helena Cricket and prior to the announcement of the 2022 International Squad, awards were presented to Alex Langham, Jordi Henry, Cliff Richards, Wayne Crowie and Scott Obey for outstanding achievements in the previous 3 weeks. Wayne was also awarded with an ICC course completion certificate in the foundation of coaching.

 

Everyone applauded the team selection which now consists of Alex Langham, Scott Crowie (Ct), Dax Richards, Andrew Yon, Aiden Leo, Brett Isaac, Brendan Leo, Barry Stroud, Cliff Richards, Jamie Ellick, Rhys Francis, Gareth Johnson, Dane Leo and Jordi  Henry.

 

Travelling with the squad will be Derek Richards – Manager, Nadeem Ahmed – Coach, Bradley Petersen – Physio and Denzil Smit – a personal development coach, will join the squad on their arrival in Johannesburg.

 

Team St Helena will spend six days training on turf wickets in Johannesburg before travelling on to Kigali, Rwanda.
