St Helenas Joey Thomas was this morning named the Islands Player of the Tournament, just recently held in Abuja.
Prior to leaving the Island for the tournament, the players were told that the national teams top player, as decided by the Coach and the Manager, would be awarded with a Grade 1 cricket bat supplied by Black Widow Cricket who the team would be visiting during their stay in Capetown.
Whilst the out come was very close between 2 players, Joey was selected because of his all round adaption to the game in Nigeria, his performances on and off the field and his overall contribution to the team.
Team Manager, Derek Richards said “well done Joey and in so many ways St Helena Cricket has taken you away from your comfort zones and you have risen to the challenge”
