One hour and thirty nine minutes was all it took for Jannas DuPlessis to complete the St Helena Cricket Half Marathon and take line honours on a trek from Blue Point to St Helena Airport.
40 runners braved the early morning rain and wind to ensure that the 9 am start was met and just an hour and thirty-nine minutes later Janna’s was at St Helena Airport.
Jannas who has run more than 60 half marathons during his time on the Island said this was probably his fastest but the 600 metre climb throughout made it a testing one.
With cash prizes and medals for the three winners in each of the four categories, a presentation took place at 3 pm.
Most of the winners of the cash prizes showed their support for this fundraiser and donated their prize winnings to the Cricket Association and St Helena Cricket thanks to Janna’s DuPlessi, Damian Burns, Hugo Richards. Claire Leo, Nicole Richards and Lesa Davidson for their contribution.
With that fundraiser complete, the Cricket Association members will endeavour to make raffle tickets available to the public. The much sought-after Raffle is the Return Flight to Capetown…
